Durban — An Isipingo family whose two women family members were found dead in an abandoned building are demanding justice for their loved ones and have described the incident as “very inhumane and very evil”.
The bodies of Lee Ann Jaers, 30, and Ashleigh Jaers, 17, were found naked and abandoned in Mahes Road in Isipingo.
Lisa Monjaing, who is Ashleigh’s mother, said they were heartbroken.
Monjaing said: “Ashleigh had her whole life planned. She was doing her matric. She wanted to go overseas next year and be a nanny as she liked taking care of children. She was passionate about being a caregiver.”
She said they had a close relationship, understood each other and were always happy people who cared about each other.
Provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident.
“On Sunday at about 19:15 the Isipingo police were called to a scene where two bodies of females were found on Mahes Road in Isipingo.”
Gwala said on the police’s arrival they were shown the bodies of two women. One had a wound on the temple and the other had strangulation marks.
“Charges of murder were opened at Isipingo. We are appealing to anyone who might have information about the suspects involved to contact their nearest police station,” said Gwala.
Lee Ann reportedly had bruises on both thighs, knees and abdomen, while Ashleigh was reported to have bruises on her abdomen, breasts, chin and her lips.
Lindiwe Mthembu, who is a PR councillor in the area, said the place where they were found was a hot spot for danger as a lot of criminal activities happened there.
Lee Ann’s friends took to social media to express their grief.
“I'm shocked, sad, heavy but most of all angry! Who did this to you & Lil Ash!? You had just recently told me you were by the park where we used to chill thinking about the good old days.
“We were making plans to reconnect again when I'm free. I prayed hard for justice to be harshly administered to the perpetrators in whatever shape, size or form but mostly for your family – especially dear Lisa. We will find solace knowing you have left this world to a peaceful realm where pain is not an option,” said Be Eazi.
