Durban — Five suspects were arrested by police in Durban after they robbed a business.

Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said that Durban Central police’s swift response to a business robbery resulted in the arrest of five suspects who were found in illegal possession of firearms and stolen property.

“On September 9, 2022, at 5.30pm, four men armed with knives and firearms, entered a shop on Stamford Hill Road. They robbed the employees of cigarettes, cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash before they fled the scene. Durban Central police responded swiftly to the report of a robbery and arrested four men as well as the driver of the getaway vehicle,” Ngcobo said.

She said that the five suspects aged between 20 and 28 were found in possession of the stolen items.

The suspects were expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday for the unlawful possession of firearms and possession of stolen property.
