Durban — The KwaZulu-Natal Agriculture and Rural Development (KZN DARD) MEC has welcomed the appointment of a new acting head of department (HOD).

In a statement, KZN DARD MEC, Bongiwe Sithole-Moloi welcomed the new acting HOD Zibusiso Dlamini, after former HOD Siza Sibande left the department.

KZN DARD said Dlamini started from humble beginnings, employed as an extension officer in 2001 based in Kokstad to having an illustrious career.

In his career in the public service, Dlamini became Agricultural Development Services deputy director-general which he currently occupies on his appointment as acting HOD.

MEC Sithole-Moloi welcomed Dlamini by saying: “It has indeed been a great honour to have someone with so much knowledge of the department, who has risen within and understands government’s processes and mandate in improving the lives of the people of KZN. Through his industriousness, the department is hoping to achieve and overcome many great milestones in efforts to bring about efficient organisational governance and effective service delivery.”

She also urged departmental management to continue working tirelessly and harmoniously in support of Dlamini to achieve set targets and goals and further eradicate poverty, job creation and ensure food security for the people of KZN.
