Durban — Although details are sketchy, it has been alleged that suspects crashed the vehicle they were travelling in after police foiled an attempted hijacking in Durban.

According to information received by the Daily News, the South African Police Service’s Durban Tactical Response Team foiled the attempted hijacking.

It is alleged that four suspects in a silver vehicle attempted to hijack a vehicle on Musgrave Road but the incident was intercepted by police who were driving past.

“A high-speed chase ensued and ended when suspects collided with a few vehicles at the intersection of Berea Road and Hunt Road. They lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the school fence next to Glenwood Spar,” read the information.

“Two suspects were arrested whilst trying to flee. The other two suspects managed to escape.”

Police had not commented by the time of publication.
