Durban — KwaZulu-Natal police foiled a business robbery and arrested three suspects in Richards Bay who are expected to make their second court appearance on Monday.

Police spokesperson, Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said that on October 21, Richards Bay police received information regarding four armed suspects who were planning to rob a local supermarket.

Police went to the said location and observed.

“Three suspects were spotted as they were approaching the business premises, they were stopped and searched by the police who recovered one pistol and rounds of ammunition,” Ngcobo said.

She said the suspects, aged between 24 and 36, were arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and appeared before the Richards Bay Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

“They were remanded in custody and they will appear for a formal bail application on October 31,” Ngcobo said.
