Internationally acclaimed DJ and producer Black Coffee has big plans for his legacy that include a music academy.

The Grammy award-winning DJ, this March will be celebrating his birthday with a fundraising gala dinner to launch the transformative institution for young artists - The Black Coffee Music Academy.

This is the Black Coffee Foundation’s most ambitious project yet: establishing The Black Coffee Music Academy, a world-class institution designed to empower and uplift the next generation of musical talent.

Speaking on the vision for The Black Coffee Music Academy, Lungie Maphumulo, CEO of the Black Coffee Foundation, said; “This academy will be a hub of artistic excellence, giving aspiring musicians and artists a space to learn, grow, and thrive.

“Our goal of R24 million in 2025 might appear ambitious, but we believe that through partnerships and collective effort, we can turn this vision into reality.

“The Gala Dinner is the first step in that journey, and we invite individuals and brands to be part of something transformative. We are laying the foundation for something truly special.”

The Black Coffee Foundation Gala Dinner will take place at the swanky LUXX Venue in Sandhurst, Johannesburg just two days after the music producer’s actual birthday.

Globally renowned jazz pianist Nduduzo Makhathini is set to captivate audiences with his headline performance. The evening will also feature an inspiring keynote address by Tshepo Mahloele, an esteemed investment professional, philanthropist, and Chairman of Arena Holdings and Harith General Partners.

The funds raised will support early-stage development for The Black Coffee Music Academy, including location scouting, infrastructure planning, and curriculum development.
