Princess Charlene is known for her love of animals and her work with wildlife in South Africa.

Participating in a charity dog walk in Monaco aimed at promoting adoption and raising funds for abandoned animals, the princess used the occasion to introduce her new Chihuahua puppy, named Kita.

Walking with her little black and white Chihuahua, Princess Charlene stressed the need to adopt rather than buy a pet.

The Princess’s brother, Gareth Wittstock, was also there to show his support for this worthy cause.

The event attracted the wealthy elite from the tiny municipality of Monaco, including the likes of Prince Serge of Yugoslavia, son of Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia and Princess Maria-Pia of Savoy.

Wearing a casual taupe knit hoodie, black joggers and Louis Vuitton sunglasses, the 46-year-old who is married to Prince Albert posed for photos with other dog lovers.

This is her third Chihuahua. She also has a Rhodesian ridgeback named Khan that was brought from South Africa, when she returned to Monaco in 2021.

Charlene is an ardent animal lover and activist. She has worked tirelessly in raising awareness about wildlife protection in South Africa and in 2021 launched the #ChasingZero campaign to eradicate rhino poaching in South Africa.

Earlier this year the former Olympic swimmer was named as the new president of Monaco’s Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA).

The shelter takes in animals that have been abandoned or found straying in Monaco, providing temporary accommodation for animals when their owners are taken to hospital or have died, and helps animals that were taken to the pound.
