WHILE the attendees of the South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) spent Sunday night celebrating the industry, tweeters spent the evening berating their outfits.No one was spared, as those on social media commented on most of the dresses and suits donned by nominees and presenters.
The actor to take the most flak was Isibaya’s Vusi Kunene. Although he had a sterling night and won his first Golden Horn statue, people on Facebook and Twitter were unhappy with his choice of suit, which was grey with red flame-looking details.
@Athabzz asked: “Does Vusi Kunene have fire flame emojis on his suit? Wow,” while @Ntshalie wrote: “Vusi Kunene broke my heart with that suit. My gawd.”
Someone even joked that he had been dressed by DJ Sbu’s energy drink company because the print on his suit was similar to the logo.

@Sentletse added: “Vusi Kunene launched the greatest affront to men’s fashion.”
The other outfit to be berated as much as Kunene’s was Lorna Maseko’s dress. Maseko, who is a presenter and dancer, wore a Quiteria & George design.
@Kgosi_Jay asked: “Who is Lorna Maseko’s stylist and what has she done to them to do this to her?”Some said she looked cheap, while several other tweeters said she “looks like a mess”.
@JustVuyi concluded: “Lorna Maseko is worst dressed so far.”One of the presenters for the award ceremony, Minnie Dlamini, registered more hits than misses with the online crowd.
Some even compared her to presenter Bonang Matheba, who wore a stylish black gown for the evening.
”Bonang’s dress at the #Saftas looked better than all SIX of MinnieDlamini’s dresses,” said @Iam_Steph88.Her pink gown with sewn-on flowers wasn't a fan favourite.
”Minnie Dlamini’s dress is wrong on so many levels… I think we need to write a 1 000 word essay on why it’s wrong. #SAFTAS10 #safta2016,” wrote @asandamaphumulo.
