Reality TV fans have a lot to look forward to this month, with a variety of new shows offering a glimpse into the real-life drama of celebrities.
Don't miss out on these must-see additions to your viewing schedule.
“Big Brother Mzansi”
Season five of the show premiered recently on Mzansi Magic.
And for the next two months, viewers will witness the housemates battle it out for the grand prize of two million rands while introducing themselves.
“Big Brother Mzansi” is the best show for people who want to step into the entertainment industry because they can easily be spotted by talent recruiters and brand managers. This show is a must see because it is not scripted, therefore portrays people’s characters, their strengths and weaknesses. It also shows us how people deal with the pressure and the ability to work as a team.
And sometimes, others find love.
“Isencane Lengane”
Back for a seventh season, “Isencane Lengane” continues to follow the life of Siyacela and Thando Dlamuka, who got married when they were teenagers.
As an adult and a young parent, Thando still stands by her disrespectful husband, who doesn’t see eye-to-eye with her family.
The upcoming season will see Siyacela get into a physical fight with Thando’s deadbeat dad.
Many people watch this show because they want better for Thando. After failing matric, we thought she would go back to school and build a life for herself outside of her marriage but she chose the opposite. She had a baby and became a stay at home wife of a husband who doesn’t even want her to drive their car.
It comes as a lesson to many young girls that no matter what a man promises you, you must always have something going on for yourself or else you’ll put up with his disrespect the same way Thando puts up with Siyacela’s arrogance.
“Isencane Lengane” airs on Moja Love (DStv channel 157) from February 2 at 9pm.
“Uthando Nes’thembu”
Last year, we saw the video that was trending on social media where Musa Mseleku crowned his wives with isicholo (a Zulu traditional hat worn by women), sparking rumours that a new wife would be introduced in season eight.
One of the best reality TV shows in Mzansi, “Uthando Nes’thembu”, has kept us captivated all seasons.
Seeing one man navigate life with four wives and several children made some men believe they could also be polygamist, but many have failed with just two wives, and Mseleku’s son Mpumelelo is one of them.
We’ve seen it on “Umnakwethu”, inspired by “Uthando Noxolo” that not every man has the balls to lead several wives. Some just want to enjoy the perks of having several women without the necessary resources such as financial security.
The date for the show premiere is yet to be announced.
Real Housewives of Lagos
The “Real Housewives of Lagos” premiered on January 12 on Showmax, and with the new cast, we are expecting fresh twists. The new cast consists of women in fashion and beauty, including Adeola Diiadem Adeyemi, Dabota Lawson and Sophia Momodu.
This third season, we want to see more high fashion because we all know that when it comes to beauty, Nigerian girls always slay.
We also want to see the wives doing housewives duties such as shopping and caring for their families, bragging about their riches instead of yapping during lunch dates at some restaurants.
