South African music royalty to Headline Oskido's inaugural 'Big Day Out' festival

Legendary DJ and music producer Oskido has locked down some of South Africa’s best kwaito musicians to perform at his upcoming music, food and lifestyle festival.

The DJ announced the phase one line-up of the “Big Day Out” outdoor festival that will include iconic performers, Zola 7, Trompies, Boom Shaka, Professor and Thebe.

These pioneers shaped the country’s kwaito scene and continue to inspire new generations with their unforgettable music.

It’s also been revealed that dance music kings, Christos, Ganyani, Vinny Da Vinci, Greg Maloka and Glen Lewis, along with the multi-award-winning DJ Zinhle, will join the stellar line-up.

“Together, they’ll take us back to where it all began, a time that still resonates deeply within the South African audience,” read a statement.

More musical acts will be announced in due course.

According to the multi-award-winning producer, the lifestyle festival will be a “spectacular celebration of South Africa’s vibrant music scene over the past three decades”.

“It will rekindle the golden era of kwaito by showcasing performances by a stellar line-up of legendary artists and tracking the journey of South African house music from then to now.

“‘Big Day Out’ is not just about the music, it’s about celebrating our rich culture, our colourful history, and the joy that comes with it - music and food,” said Oskido.

The festival, which is the first from Oskido, will take place on Saturday, November 30 in Huddle Park, Linksfield, Johannesburg.
