Durban – Two men suspected of stealing from two houses in Northdale, Pietermaritzburg, were allegedly caught carrying a large cupboard stolen from one of the houses as well as drugs.
After security company, Mi7 National Group received a description of two suspects from two separate theft reports in the Northdale area of Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday, they suspected that the same suspects were involved in the cases.
Mi7 national group director Colin David said armed response officers were immediately dispatched after a Northdale client reported two suspects allegedly tampering with a meter outside their premises.
“While en route, Mi7 reaction officers were given information regarding a housebreaking which occurred in the same vicinity of the original complaint,” he said.
David said the Mi7 control room operators worked closely with reaction officers on the ground and teams quickly obtained information on both incidents.
“Having garnered a description of suspects from both incidents, it was believed that it was the same culprits involved,” he said.
He said a widespread search of the area ensued.
“After a few minutes, Mi7 reaction officers spotted two men matching the description of the suspects and immediately intercepted them. They were carrying a cupboard allegedly stolen from (one of) the premises,” said David.
According to David the suspects were also allegedly found in possession of narcotics.
“The matter was handed over to the police for further investigation,” he said.
