Park City, Utah - We all knew the 10th instalment of Ken Block’s award-winning Gymkhana drifting series was going to be something special. Block is, after all, the grand master of ‘go big or go home’ and each Gymkhana video has been more spectacular than the last.
But with this trailer - and even the trailer is longer than most other stunt drivers’ drift videos - Block serves notice that GymkhanaTEN will take things to a whole new level.
Every Gymkhana video so far has featured a new location; this one will have five, spread all around the world. Previous episodes have featured new or radically revised cars; G10 will have five, including Block’s radical all-wheel drive Hoonicorn Mustang and two new cars, one of which is an all-new-from-the-ground-up drift monster that looks like it’s based on a Ford F250 bakkie.
The bad news is that a project of this size takes time; GymkhanaTEN is only scheduled for release towards the end of 2018.
In the meantime, however, there will be an Amazon Original Unscripted Series called The Gymkhana Files, following the team as they plan the locations, prepare the cars and shoot the new ‘Block’buster video, interspersed with scenes from the making of the previous nine videos, and other facets of Block’s life, including his home life in Utah and what he does for fun when he’s not driving sideways.
