Johannesburg - BMW fanatics can look forward to October 21 and 22 when BMW South Africa hosts the first ever BMW M Festival at the Kyalami race track.
Some seriously tasty drawcards have been lined up for the event, and besides displays of of all the brand’s current and historic high-performance models, BMW will use the opportunity to unveil and launch numerous new M variants to the market.
Fresh from its world debut will be the all-new M5, which will be sneak previewed before its official South African launch in the first quarter of 2018. The first performance model in the X3 SUV range, the X3 M40i with 265kW, will also be debuted just ahead of its November launch, while the new BMW M4 CS, which will be sold in very limited numbers, will be officially introduced to our market at the Festival.
Of course the track will be open, and a number of BMW’s M cars will be available for hot laps either at the hands of a professional or self-driven. There are also planned drag races and drifting demonstrations, and to top it all off, Team Schnitzer’s Tom Blomqvist will be on hand to give thrill rides in his M4 DTM race car.
Off track activities will include live music by some of South Africa’s top DJs and artists, gourmet food and drinks, a children’s play area and a Gauteng BMW Car Club Concours show; while potential customers can walk through a giant showroom of new cars with special finance offers to entice sales at the actual event.
Ticket prices range from R150 for single day entries to R500 for M-VIP tickets, to R4500 for M-Hospitality weekend passes, with numerous other options in between. M-VIP tickets include access to the BMW M Sky Lounge with private cash bar, snacks, a comfortable lounge, private ablutions, VIP parking and the M-Afterparty from 5pm to 10pm each evening. The full M-Hospitality pass allows VVIP parking, free local spirits, beers and wines, and access to a private area within the M VIP lounge.
