The South African Revenue Service (SARS) says there has been a substantial increase in the number of taxpayers who need assistance with the completion of their returns. As result, there have been delays in responding to telephonic queries in the main centres.

SARS says it regrets any inconvenience caused, and stresses that this "is a seasonal hazard". SARS says appropriate mechanisms have been put in place to cope with the increase in demand for service.
