Trevor Manuel, the Minister of Finance, gave no clues in this week's mini-Budget about any relief taxpayers can expect in next year's Budget, other than to say that there would adjustments for inflation.

The mini-Budget policy statement says the 2006 Budget will include inflation adjustments to the tax monetary thresholds, including the income tax brackets, transfer duties and the graduated tax structure from small companies.

The statement also says that tax reforms for retirement funds will be considered. The Retirement Fund Reform discussion paper released last year has been updated following input from various stakeholders and will be released later this year, it says.
