Do you have a suggestion as to how the minister of finance should allocate state money? This month, the minister, Pravin Gordhan, presents the national Budget. If you send him a suggestion on what you would like to see in the budget this year, you may just find it being taken seriously - and the whole of South Africa benefiting from your wisdom.

Gordhan is continuing the tradition of the "Tips for Trevor" campaign, launched by former finance minister Trevor Manuel in 2001.

You can submit your tip in one of the following ways:

- On the National Treasury website, www.treasury.gov.za;

- By fax to 012 315 5126;

- By post to Private Bag X115, Pretoria, 0001; or

- By posting the tip directly on the minister's fan page on facebook. Please note, this is a fan page, not a profile.

The Budget will be presented in Parliament on Wednesday, February 17.

Each year, the treasury picks a winning tip. If your tip is tops, you will receive a two-year subscription to Personal Finance magazine.
