Pretoria - ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba has dismissed Paul O’Sullivan’s conspiracy theory that former spy boss Arthur Fraser framed President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Phala Phala matter.

Mashaba was in conversation with Biznews TV podcaster Alec Hogg when the host asked him to consider O’Sullivan’s plea for the ActionSA leader to leave Ramaphosa alone.

“Paul says, ‘Herman, slow down. Don’t attack Ramaphosa so much. Don’t try and kick him out because the alternative is not good. What’s your response to Mr O’Sullivan on that?” asked Hogg.

Mashaba did not mince his words.

“Tell Paul O’Sullivan that I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure that we get Cyril Ramaphosa to go and sell his Ankoles and buffaloes because probably that’s what he enjoys best.

“We cannot have a president who runs the country on the side, and most of the time, he is hustling. For whatever reason Paul thinks about Cyril Ramaphosa, I can tell you that Herman Mashaba is one of those South Africans that are determined to work hard to ensure that Cyril Ramaphosa is removed,” he said.

Hogg tried to persuade Mashaba to see things from O’Sullivan’s point of view. O’Sullivan had been interviewed in a previous episode, where he alleged that Fraser trapped Ramaphosa into a corner with the Phala Phala farm saga.

“But all the evidence about the Phala Phala story shows that he was set up,” said Hogg.

Mashaba interjected, saying that Ramaphosa had not denied that he had a large sum of dollars stolen from his farm in Waterberg Limpopo.

“Please, no one must try and divert our attention from criminality. We must never, as South Africans, accept to condone criminality, more especially from a head of the state,” he said.

Hogg pressed Mashaba to accept that Fraser was “a crook”.

“No one is denying that. It’s good when criminals expose one another. Let them bring more. Let Cyril also tell us who the other criminals are, but we are not going to condone (criminality) because Fraser is a criminal. Therefore, he set up another criminal.

“Our country is going through Stage 6 load shedding. It happened at the time when Eskom was looted by the Guptas right in front of the eyes of Cyril Ramaphosa. Let him tell us who the other criminals are because he is surrounded by criminals,” Mashaba said.

Mashaba said if Ramaphosa was being set up, he should have reported the farm burglary to the police.
