Reflecting on a decade of his career trajectory, Kevin Britz is a shining example of determination, having challenged himself in more than one area of expertise and defying odds to attain success, which he now takes pride in.
From being a sought-after voice over artist, Britz now boasts a string of occupations such as being a management consultant, expert facilitator, human behaviour solutionist, speaker, podcast host, consultant, executive coach, and becoming a published author.
Being an executive coach who has significantly shaped other people's lives by offering guidance and support, he believes that his mission extends beyond personal growth and includes enabling others to thrive.
Britz further reflects on his journey, he explains that the experience of being a voice-over artist served as the cornerstone for a varied and fulfilling career.
“One of the highlights of my career was being the voice of "Steve," a role that made my voice one of the most recognizable in the history of South African radio. At the time, I believed that my voice was all I had to offer. But then my coach gave me invaluable advice: "Teach people what you know." And what I knew was how to use my voice effectively and how to coach others into developing strong structures and strategies.
“With that combination, I took action—and action led to results. Today, I am proud to say that I have become an expert in far more than just my voice. That experience was the foundation upon which I built a diverse and fulfilling career, proving that we are often capable of much more than we initially believe.”
Britz provides a transformative coaching journey that helps individuals unlock their full potential, utilising a blend of techniques to assist them in their journey.
He reveals that his profound love for learning, which has driven him to delve deeper into the realms of human behaviour, neuroscience, and what the future holds for us all, fields for which he has received praise.
“As someone who has personally gone through this journey, it has taught me that self-discovery is far from a straightforward path; it's deeply subjective and varies for each individual. Human beings are inherently complex, and unlocking our full potential requires more than just a single approach. That’s why I draw from a blend of techniques, including neurolinguistics, timeline therapy, and hypnotherapy (all certified as master practitioners),, and various coaching modalities like transactional analysis, enneagram profiling, etc., to help others on their journey,” he said.
Asked what has kept him motivated over the years and who he would credit his success to he said, “Being a dad. I have always feared that I would some how disappoint my daughter but I think I am doing pretty darn well. Besides being a dad, giving people the options I didn’t know I had until I pursued them. People are extraordinary and given the slightest glimpse of hope will always surpass their own potentials.”
The capacity to recognise when you are smarter than your employer was another subject he touched on, underscoring how essential it is to take on accountability for both your actions and your words.
“As humans, we’ve evolved far beyond the days of being well-paid instruction takers. We've moved past outdated, biased, sexist, and ageist approaches to leadership, where individuals felt entitled simply because they held a title. Being someone’s boss is a privilege, and it’s time leaders recognised that. True leadership today requires more than just holding a position of authority. If you can regulate your emotions effectively, you’re smarter. If you hold yourself accountable to your words and actions, you’re smarter. And if you have the ability to ask critical questions that challenge your superiors, especially when they don’t have the answers, you’re smarter.’’
Britz's bright pursuits include hosting a podcast called "the Lunchtime Series with Kevin Britz" and developing a TV show about leadership for business executives.
He also has 10 years of experience in various industries, including telecommunications, healthcare, insurance, finance, and banking, gaining skills in leadership, sales, service excellence and continues to thrive in his expertise.
