RENEILWE LETSHOLONYANE, pictured, has been one of the key players in SuperSport United’s impressive start to the 2016-17 season, as well as the club’s road to the Telkom Knockout final.

Here are the three matches en route to tonight’s clash against surprise package Cape Town City at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, in Yeye’s own words...

Last 16: SSU 1 Ajax CT 0 (after extra-time)

THIS was the first of the two matches we played in this cup that went beyond the 90 minutes, and one of the performances that showed that we could still improve. We did enough to get past Ajax, although we needed 120 minutes to do. All the matches weren’t easy and we couldn’t tell it wasn’t going to get easier given the opposition we faced after the opening round.

Quarter-final: Mamelodi Sundowns 0 SSU 0 (3-1 on penalties)

THEY say if you want to be the best you have to play against the best, which is what happened with our next match in the tournament.

This was a big game, the Tshwane derby against our rivals. It got tough when we had a player sent off early in the second half (left-back Onismor Bhasera was red-carded in the 60th minute) and our game plan changed. But we again managed to hold on to win on penalties.

Semi-final: SSU 1 Orlando Pirates 0

IT hasn’t been an easy road to the final, clearly. It had to be done, though, and we did it. We faced three big teams and were able to get past all of them to make it to last match. We are where we are now because of the hard work we put in as a team and the instructions from the technical team.

We went into the halftime break leading against Pirates and we just did everything right to be able to hold on until the end. Cape Town City will also be a different challenge to these other teams we faced in the earlier rounds, but we believe we deserve to be in the final looking at the teams we beat. - Mazola Molefe
