Manqoba Mngqithi's agent Mike Makaab has slammed Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos for questioning his client's decision to omit star players Teboho Mokoena and Khuliso Mudau from the starting line-up at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Both Mudau and Mokoena have fallen out of favour at Sundowns under Mngqithi and have found themselves outside the match-day squad this season.

Despite their limited playing time at the Tshwane giants, Broos has continued to trust the duo, fielding them in Bafana’s 5-0 victory over Congo in last Friday's Afcon qualifiers.

The two players are also expected to feature on Tuesday evening as Bafana look secure Afcon qualification in the return tie in Brazzaville.

Speaking after the game against Congo, Broos criticized Mngqithi’s decision to bench the two players stating that he did not agree with the decision.

“The progression Teboho has made in the last two years has been enormous. He’s become a very good player. I know today he was extra motivated to show to his coach at Sundowns that it was not right not to select him.

“This is what I like. Not words, not talking, just the performance. I have to accept and respect the decision [by the Sundowns coach], but I can’t agree. I think today proved why I can’t agree with why he’s not playing at Sundowns. But it’s not my problem,”

Speaking to Gagasi FM, Makaab defended Mngqithi, saying he was a man who holds no grudges. He added that Mngqithi has to field the best players he believes can deliver for him.

“What I can tell you about Manqoba and I have been with him for 12 years. He is not a man who hold grudges, he is not a man who has favourites.

“Manqoba realises that he will be judged by one thing and one thing alone, his results. He has to put out the best players that he believes can deliver for him“.

Makaab added that Broos’ comments were out of order.

“Imagine if Jose Riveiro publicly stated that he could not understand why Hugo Broos was not selecting Patrick Madwanganyi on basis of what he was achieving at club level.

“I understand Broos needs his best players available but for his to make those utterances. I think is out order,” Makaab said.
