Kaizer Chiefs on Tuesday afternoon confirmed the return of midfielder Njabulo Blom from Major League Soccer side St Louis City SC.

Blom initially left the club to join St Louis at the beginning of last season, and became a fan favourite after his energetic displays in the heart of midfield.

However, with the American club struggling following the sacking of former Kaizer Chiefs star Bradley Carnell as head coach, Blom has decided to return home.

“We are excited to welcome Njabulo back to the team,” said sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr on Tuesday.

“His experience in the MLS and his familiarity with our Club ethos make him a valuable addition to our squad. We look forward to seeing his impact on the field because we know how valuable he is to our game model.”

Commenting about his return, Blom said: “I am delighted to be back at Kaizer Chiefs, a Club that holds a special place in my heart.

“... I look forward to working with the team and contributing to our success under Coach Nasreddine Nabi. The support from the fans has always motivated me, and I can’t wait to play in front of the Khosi nation again.”

Blom joins Chiefs on a season-long loan.

The club also announced the signing of defender Bradley Cross from Golden Arrows. Cross, who has played for the likes of Schalke 04 and Newcastle United, previously turned out for Maritzburg United before moving to Arrows.

“Kaizer Chiefs are delighted to welcome their sixth signings of the current transfer window, Bradley Cross, from Golden Arrows,” the club said in a statement.
