A new local documentary series, which explores the world of entrepreneurship through the eyes of black businesswomen, has been added to the public broadcaster’s daytime schedule.

“Dime Central”, which premiered on SABC1 recently, is “a tribute to inspirational black women featuring influential women who are impacting change in various industries and their communities,” a statement read.

“The dynamic women interviewed will reveal their incredible journeys to success,” it added.

“The viewers might recognise some of them but do not know their engaging stories of commitment and personal sacrifice until they see the surreal life of these women.”

Each businesswoman on the show discusses what makes her tick, the drive behind her leap of faith and how she discovered and redefined success.

Each episode features five dynamic entrepreneurs who will share their journey of running successful ventures. It also includes a reality-style interview portion devoted to the three main characters as well as documentary-style footage of the operations of their businesses.

The show put Mathapelo Pitse, the owner of a thriving shoe brand, in the spotlight.

She was joined by public relations expert Simbongile Ndlangis; Tlhologelo Mabelane, the founder of a sought-after hair brand; Bontle Tshole, the visionary behind a successful smoothie brand; and, last but not least, Bongelwa Dhlomo, who took viewers through her culinary journey.

Today’s episode showcases women making waves in the creative industry. They include Davina Satori, a talented beatmaker and DJ; self-taught visual artist, Kganya Mogashoa; Kgomotso Maake, a skilled line artist’ and permanent make-up tutor, Phiwe Mngadi.

The rest of the women featured in the series in the upcoming weeks include skilled skin therapist and somatologist, Tebogo Thoka; Puseletso Modimogale, an advocate for holistic wellness; Nomsa Maseko, a specialist in lipo sonics; Lindiwe Songca, the creator of a successful skin product line; and talented eyelash artists, Leotshepang Boikhutso and Molemo Mosupye.

They will be joined by a wine owner and coach Siwela Masoga; Phuti Kabasa, the owner of a unique worm snack business; luxury event furniture and decor specialist, Maureen Skosana; and interior designer, Mbalientle Zulu.

The featured entrepreneurs also serve as inspiration for young girls.

Keep an eye out for a laundromat founder, a self-taught fast-food chef, co-founders of a packaged meals business, a cake designer and baker, and creators of baby carriers and beadwork, who are also set to delve into their crafts on the show.
