As Saturday, August 27, marks the 27th anniversary of Princess Diana’s passing, a new documentary is set to get to the bottom of her tragic death.

The People’s Princess”, as she was affectionately known when she died in a car accident in Paris in 1997 at just 36 years old, alongside her boyfriend Dodi Al Fayed and Henri Paul, who was the driver.

Now, almost three decades after her death, “Who Killed Diana?” looks into the circumstances around the late royal's passing.

“Deadline” reported that the show's team promises rare interviews, including first-ever sit-downs with key sources, and is set to "cast new light on the case that has captured the world’s attention for decades."

EverWonder Studio and Empress Films, the company behind Netflix documentaries “Depp vs. Heard” as well as “The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe” are teaming up for this three-part series.

This production will also be the first of a broader franchise between the organisations and “Deadline” added that their upcoming projects seek to “look at the shocking deaths of iconic figures, hoping to uncover new information about the circumstances that led to the notable deaths, while examining the human stories and historical context at the centre of these cases.”

They quoted EverWonder’s head of talent and content development Jon Adler, as saying: “We both believe approach and access are everything. This new franchise will not merely revisit deaths of famous figures, it will actively drive the story forward with new voices and fresh insight into compelling and complex details.”

Meanwhile, Emma Cooper, who will direct and executive produce the documentary added: “Exploring legendary women through investigative journalistic documentaries is a passion of mine.”

“Just as we did with ‘The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe’, we’ve taken a story the world thought it knew and uncovered hidden truths.”

“I am committed to approaching this beloved and iconic woman’s story with fresh perspectives, new voices, and previously untold information.”

It is still not known where viewers will be able to watch “Who Killed Diana?” A release date is yet to be announced.
