Cape Town City has appointed Muhsin Ertugral as their new head coach until the end of the season, swiftly replacing Eric Tinkler who was sacked on Tuesday.
The Turkey-born coach, who’s a seasoned campaigner following spells locally and abroad, will hold the primary role of being City’s technical director.
“Cape Town City is delighted to announce the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as technical director of the club,” the Citizens said in a statement.

“Muhsin brings a wealth of local and international football experience to the club's future project, having recently served as the technical advisor of the Turkish national team for the past 4 years.
“Muhsin will step in as head coach until the end of the current season, joining first team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama.”
Ertugral joins City on a “rescue mission” after a rocky start to the season which includes missing out on two trophies – the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup – while blowing cold in the league.
After 11 games in the Betway Premiership, Tinkler could only steer his charges to three wins, two draws and a whopping five losses as they sit 12th on the table.
Tinkler, who was in his fourth season of his second stint at the club in which he won the Telkom Knockout and finished fourth in his first season, was sacked after losing to AmaZulu at home.
So with the domestic season set to resume this weekend after the festive season, Ertugral could be on the bench – if he gets his work permit in time – when they host his former club Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.
