Five people were left with moderate to serious injuries following two separate vehicle collisions in Chatsworth earlier today.
Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services, said in the first incident, paramedics responded to a scene where three vehicles had collided into each other on the Main Road in Umhlatuzana.
He said paramedics arrived to find the badly damaged vehicles.
“Three people sustained moderate to serious injuries and were stabilised before being transported to various Durban hospitals for further care."
Jamieson said shortly thereafter, paramedics responded to an accident on the M1 Higginson Highway Durban bound near the Westcliff offramp.
He said two vehicles and a truck were involved in a serious collision.
“Two of the vehicles had rolled after the collision. Advanced Life Support Paramedics treated and transported two patients with serious injuries to a nearby hospital.
“At this stage, the events leading up to the collisions are unknown. However, SAPS and metro police were in attendance and will be investigating further,” he said.
