A man who had assisted his former work colleague with a lift was allegedly robbed and hijacked in KwaDukuza on Saturday.

Prem Balram, head of Reaction Unit South Africa(Rusa), said while in the Verulam CBD, the man was approached by his former colleague, who requested transportation to Tongaat.

He said upon reaching Tongaat, the former colleague convinced him to continue driving.

“As they reached KwaDukuza, the suspect produced a knife. The man attempted to fight off his attacker but was overpowered.

“The victim was robbed of his cellphone, a Samsung A04 and cash. The suspect then fled in the man’s vehicle, a green 2005 Chevrolet Spark,” he said,
