South African celebrity parents proudly marked their children’s return to school on Wednesday, sharing heartfelt moments and milestones on social media.

Media personality Anele Mdoda made sure she did not miss a moment of her son Alakhe’s first day back at Reddam House Helderfontein school.

Anele broadcasted her show live from the school, ensuring she could support her son on his big day.

In a video shared on her Instagram story, she said, “And the bundles of joys are up. First day of school, doing the broadcast from Alakhe's school because, obviously, mommy can't miss the show, but mommy's not gonna miss the first day of Alakhe's school.”

She added, “Oh, and by the way, he's going to big school this year, Grade 4. So last year, he was on that side... This year, as he calls it, he's crossing the borders.”

Rapper Kwesta’s wife, Yolanda Vilakazi, also shared a precious moment with her two daughters, Khai and Kenya, in their school uniforms.

For her younger daughter Kenya, this marked her first-ever day in Grade 0.

“Watching you grow is my greatest joy,” she wrote on Instagram, celebrating the milestone with a sweet family photo.

EFF leader Julius Malema also joined in the celebrations, proudly sharing a story on Instagram of himself and his youngest son Kopano on his first day of Grade 1.

The post comes just two days after Malema celebrated his eldest son Ratanang’s academic achievement, sharing his excitement over Ratanang’s Bachelor’s degree pass in the 2024 matric results.

Singer and songwriter Busiswa shared an emotional post about her son, Lakhanya, who started Grade 1.

Posting a picture of her son in his school uniform, she reflected on how quickly time has passed.

“They grow up way too fast! Abo Baby Shark via Cocomelon... Grade 1 already?! Bittersweet  I can’t wait to hear all about his first day of school,” she wrote on Instagram.

Rachel Kolisi, joined the back-to-school celebrations, sharing an Instagram story of her daughter Keziah reading with the caption, “Grade 2.”
