Dalton Private Reserve has relaunched itself as Zuluwaters Game Reserve.

The new name comes after five years of re-growth, re-birth and restoration of the reserve.

Set in the foothills of the Drakensberg, the malaria-free reserve offers guests the chance to ride close to herds of wildebeest and buffalo while on a guided game trail.

Guests can also cast for wild brown trout in the 15km stretch of the Bushman’s River or just listen to the sound of the breeze in the grasses.

Other activities include horse riding, nature walks, birding, clay pigeon shooting, white-water rafting, hot air ballooning and helicopter rides.

Bushman paintings and many ruins of the old stone settlements used by hunters can also be seen on the reserve.

The picturesque eco-award-winning lodge prides itself on bringing guests “veld to fork” food indulgences.

Savour freshly-caught rainbow trout, home-cured carpaccio or succulent venison fillet with garden-fresh organic vegetables, all sourced directly from the reserve and river at the lodge. - Saturday Star
