A feast of fine food, great jazz and comic talent will be served at this year’s Ballito Prawn and Jazz Festival, to be held from next Friday July 8 to Sunday July 10 at the Seaton Delaval estate’s polo fields.

The programme will also offer a moonlight craft fair, a farmers’ market selling home-made treats, interior design and outdoor living exhibits, extreme sports and loads of activities for children, including a climbing wall, face painting and mingling with costumed characters.

Also on offer are a chefs’ demo kitchen, a beer tent and a 12.45pm Saturday display by aerobatic champion Brad Bennet.

On the food front, a variety of prawn dishes will be available in the festival food court.

Watershed is lined up to perform at 7pm on Friday (tickets cost R100), followed by Pocket Change at 9.30pm and, at 10.30pm, Manuvah to Land which offers a mix of acoustic reggae and rock. From 11.15pm on Friday, until late, the spotlight will be on DJ Blque with guitarist Zoco Dimande.

At 1pm and 5.30pm on Saturday, entertainment will be provided by six top acts from the Durban School of Comedy – Glen Bo, Dusty Rich, Little Paul, Neil Green, Jem Atkins and Gareth Woods.

Guitar ace Dan Patlansky has been booked to perform from 2pm on Sunday.

Tickets for the festival cost R60 for adults and R30 for children. There is no charge for under-fives.
