Hotel Izulu in Ballito celebrates the lead up to this year’s festive season in true culinary style created by executive chef, Guy Gorrie who has designed various menus with an emphasis on being more health conscious yet offering a traditional feast to remember.

Leading up to the festive season from October until December 15, R200 per person, available Monday – Friday, subject to availability, is the Festive Season Menu - a 3 course menu has been created especially for larger bookings such as companies wishing to celebrate their end of year work function at Hotel Izulu.

On this particular menu guests can enjoy for starters – turkey or Greek salad, festive whole ham served with a cranberry glaze or stuffed butternut filled with gorgonzola and cabbage or for mains a roast leg of lamb finished with a port jus, vegetable Cassoulet with mushroom sauce, roast turkey and a cranberry sauce, or a whole baked trout with tomato, onion and garlic, roast potatoes and roast vegetables. The finale to this is a mixed berry fruit tart, sherry trifle or mini mince pies.

Christmas Day Lunch - R450 per person - turkey salad, freshly picked lettuce, slow roasted baby onions, green beans, savoury glazed cherries & roasted turkey, roasted butternut and green bean salad, freshly picked lettuce, tomato, pumpkin seeds & butternut. For starters festive whole ham served with a cranberry glaze and stuffed butternut filled with gorgonzola & cabbage, or a prawn & avocado salad with freshly picked rocket, slow roasted cherry tomatoes & avocado, alternatively a smoked salmon salad. For main course, roast turkey finished with a cranberry sauce, roast rolled loin of pork with an apple sauce, vegetable Cossoulet finished with mushroom sauce or a whole baked trout with tomato, onion & garlic. Bean & Sausage Cassoulet with roast potatoes and ratatouille vegetables present yet another option. For desserts -lemon meringue, apple & cranberry crumble, poached pears with a Chardonnay & saffron sauce or mince pies,

New Years Eve - R695 per person in the Imbizo Hall from 19h30, Hotel Izulu presents ‘Dancing with the Stars’ themed in honour of the great classic movies such as the Cleopatra food station - a selection of oysters - classic, tempura & Rockefeller - Dirty Dancing presents a prawn cocktail with avo and cucumber salsa, tempura prawns and smoked salmon tower.

The Titanic - seared Norwegian salmon with buttered spinach, tempura fish and a selection of sushi - salmon, tuna and vegetable. To complement the movie Grease - slow roasted lamb with garlic, olive oil, rosemary, olives and roast potatoes. A mezzo platter with hummus, tzatziki, flat bread, pepper dews, feta and olives. Beauty & the Beast - spatchcock baby chicken served with green beans or peri peri chicken livers. Casablanca - vanilla meringue, passion fruit ice cream and whipped cream, strawberries & cream and chocolate coated strawberries and chocolate raspberry Napoleons.
