If fishing is your game or you just enjoy a walk on the wild side, the recently launched Jozini Tiger houseboat is sure to appeal. Tobias is the perfect answer to an adventurous weekend away with a bunch of friends, offering four en-suite double bedrooms.
The self-catering vessel also has a granite kitchen with gas appliances, and an open-plan upper deck designed to give guests an uninterrupted view of the wide expanses of Lake Jozini. It even has a Jacuzzi, bar, satellite TV and gas braai.
Operated by the Jozini Tiger Lodge, which in in northern KZN, the houseboat is skippered by two experienced captains who live on board in private facilities. They have knowledge of the lake and its surrounds, and the vessel is serviced daily while on the water. A normal two-day trip includes embarking at 1pm on the day of arrival at the Jozini Tiger Lodge jetty with departure at 2pm, after a briefing by the skippers. The boat travels along the eastern shores of the lake with its abundance of wildlife.
The following morning includes a slow cruise (at a time agreed on by the group) to some of the prime fishing hot spots, which can be enjoyed on the towed tender boat. Evening anchorage is in one of the gorges and the final morning has a later start as the vessel returns to the lodge jetty.
A one-night package is also available.
The rate is R4 000 a night per houseboat on a self -catering basis.
