Durban - The Cavern Resort & Spa has been introducing overseas and SA visitors to the joys of mountain holidays for many years.

The Cavern, named after the “Cannibal Cavern”, is on a private mountain reserve next to the Amphitheatre World Heritage Site.

This stunning resort has won numerous accolades over the years. Honeymoon suites, superior suites and standard accommodation are available with spectacular views of the surrounding valleys, indigenous forests and mountains.

Honeymoon suites have four-poster beds and fireplaces for cool evenings. The Forest Spa, high in the indigenous forest, is a relaxing space to unwind while being treated by therapists.

The Cavern is home to numerous Bushman paintings, over 200 species of birds, 150 species of trees and wildlife including leopard and eland. Walks are organised to the Tugela Gorge and to the top of the Amphitheatre.

An extensive range of recreational facilities, from guided walks and horse rides to trout fishing, is available on the reserve, while mountain bike trails are at the nearby adventure centre.
