Just a two hour drive from Cape Town, the town of Overberg in Hermanus is one of the places to see.

Travellers should take the coastal road from The Strand to Gordon’s Bay and then travel in the direction of Hermanus. The route will take you through a number of pretty coastal towns, each with its own unique features.

After Gordon’s Bay you’ll drive along the False Bay coast, close to the Indian Ocean seas that pound the beaches here.  Spot the surfers at  Kogel Bay, and then spend a few hours taking in the activities on the beach at Rooi Els.  Not far away, you’ll find yourself in Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and Kleinmond. If weather permits, visit the  penguin colony at Betty’s Bay, and the  Harold Porter National Botanical Garden.

Around Kleinmond and Hermanus there are plenty of wine farms to visit, and activities for all.  Enjoy a game of golf at one of South Africa’s Top 10 Golf Courses at the  Arabella Hotel & Spa – you’ll be playing the game in one of the most scenic setting for golf anywhere in the world.

So, when planning your trip to Cape Town, add on a few days so you can enjoy the many treasures of the areas outside the city.
